Three years into her marketing career Mercedes Maniati calls on the skills and relationships she earned as a graduate trainee almost every day.

"My two-year graduate traineeship really prepared me for my future career.

I had the opportunity and support to develop my business and technical skills through a range of various allocated projects. With each project I completed, I walked away with an acquired or heightened skill – and I use most to this day.

I also formed networks and relationships at all levels of the business that have enabled and contributed to the success I have achieved to this day.

When I came to ASSA ABLOY Australia as a trainee I had a double degree in marketing and international trade. I wanted to be part of a multi-faceted company with numerous opportunities.

I was working on the 75th anniversary of our flagship brand Lockwood when the first opportunity arose – I was offered an initial permanent role of marketing communications coordinator.

From there I became PR Manager for ASSA ABLOY Australia, with responsibility for corporate events, sponsorships and communication both in Australia and also for business units within the Asia Pacific division.

It’s a great and varied role. Every day differs and I appreciate a good challenge, so it’s perfect for me.

If you are a student considering the first step on your career path, ASSA ABLOY not only offers access to motivating leadership, challenging opportunities and professional development, but a supportive work environment to assist in creating a career with significant value."
