Franklin Centre, Pukekohe

ASSA ABLOY work with ASC Architects to develop iconic South Auckland building.

The Franklin Centre stands as an iconic building next to the Town Hall in the South Auckland District. Presenting a dynamic space with the library and art gallery surrounding the light and airy foyer, the centre creates a hub of activity ideal for hosting community events.

ASC Architects were honoured by the New Zealand Institute od Architects with two different awards received in 2008 - one Regional Award and one National Award, under the Community and Cultural category. In June 2008 it also received a property Council Award. These awards recognise this project for both its superior design and technical achievements. ASSA ABLOY worked with ASC to provide the ideal door furniture and opening solutions for the centre, guaranteeing robust functionality while complementing the modern design of the building.

ASSA ABLOY was proud to offer door closers and furniture to match the state of the art feel of the building and yet withstand the high usage of such a busy arts centre. The Lockwood Slide Arm Door Closer was chosen for its smooth running and adjustable power with delayed opening function. The closer is particularly suited for environments where children, disabled or the aged may enter. To complete the contemporary design the Lockwood 1800 Square End Mortice Latch furniture with bevelled edges and concealed fixing was chosen to work alongside the clean and modern lines of the building.

"ASC Architects is one of New Zealand's leading architectural practices, and provides architectural and interior design services for projects throughout the country".
